Mindful Yoga & Meditation for Criminal Justice Reform

The Experience

Begin a journey for yourself and others while contributing to the success of our most vulnerable community members through criminal justice reform advocacy.

This experience provides a centered and grounded environment to tap into your intuition and creativity to help you make authentic decisions for yourself and others. Many times during the day we are confronted with choices. When we make decisions that are based on fear or conditioned responses, our bodies respond with pain and suffering. We don’t speak our truth.

In this experience we will work together to find a genuine path and purpose through yoga, meditation and mindfulness. We will also advocate for those in our community who have been unable to access the support and self-care necessary to break cycles of trauma that ultimately led to their incarceration. By supporting the work of A New Way of Life, we will expand our reach of helping more members find their authentic voice, speak their truth and lead a productive and joyful life.

What We'll Do

Guided yoga and meditation and through mindfulness in our everyday lives. We will also work together to develop a letter we will send to our elected officials to advocate for the "Ban the Box" initiative in LA County which calls for removing the question and check box, “Have you been convicted by a court?” from applications for employment, housing, public benefits, insurance, loans and other services. These questions mean lifelong discrimination and exclusion because of a past arrest or conviction record.
